I use Virtualdub for capture but that's as much as I know about the program
I've captured some tv shows using the PicVideo Mjpeg codec and then ran them through TMPGEnc at dvd compliant mpeg2 3000kb/sec.
They all looked fine but when i burnt them the last episode (the sixth) is very slightly out on sync, and I wonder if it's because I used the 'mpeg tools' function in TMPGEnc to join them after I encoded (I did this as each of the six episodes were split in two - and if I'd have used Ulead Movie Factory to author I'd have got two chapter buttons per episode - I didn't want that).
By joining the mpegs will this perhaps be the cause of the sound and video being slightly out of sync, and if there's a quick way to simply join the avi's in virtualdub (before encoding) will this maybe solve my problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Will

Try TMPGEnc again, but use the external audio encoders in the Options-->Audio Engine tab.

You could try to join the AVIs before encoding

If the AVIs are identical (bitrates, encoding, resolution...) you can "join" them in VDub by loading first part as usual, the load the second part with Add AVI Segment. Then frameserve this to TMPGEnc. If this cures your sync problem is another matter...

Not being at home I don't have TMPGEnc to hand, but you mean encode again or reload the individual mpegs?
Sorry, my TMPGEnc knowledge is limited to encoding and joing
    Thanks,
    Will
