I converted an AVI via Tmpgenc to MPEG (Audio and Video). If I run the mpeg file, I can hear the audio.
Following is the project setting from ULead
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC)
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo
But after I create the DVD files and play them, there is no audio.
I opened up the IFO files in IFOEDIT and did not see a audio section in there.
Any suggestions on what I need to do to get audio.

Subject: Ulead MovieFactory audio problem
I also had the same problem you were having with Ulead MF recorded DVD not playing audio in standalone dvd players. I was able to resolve the problem in TMPGEnc.
The issue was this:
When you encode your .avi file in TMPGEnc into a single .mpg file, the audio track is saved in .mp2 format. MPEG audio is not a standard audio format in all DVD players and those that do support MPEG audio do better with MP3 format.
So, if your version of TMPGEnc only encodes to a single .mpg file and you cannot hear your audio when you play the dvd on your standalone, you can probably tweek your standalone dvd player's audio setup for MPEG audio to render MPEG as PCM. This work great for me and fixed the issue, however, this is not a desirable solution as you want to be able to play your dvd on as many players as possible without having to reconfigure audio settings.
The best solution is using TMPGEnc Plus v.2.5:
Choose the "CBR Linear PCM Audio" from the Project Wizard, then follow all the steps as usual. What this will do is, instead of rendering a single .mpg file, it will create 2 files. One file for video (.m2v) and one for the audio (.wav). Ulead MF will like this.
In Ulead MovieFactory, you simply add the .m2v files to your project. At this point they will have NO sound associated with them though. So on the same Ulead screen where you added the video clips, click the "Replace Audio" option. This brings up a pop-up window where you can add an audio track to the associated video track. Just locate the .wav file that was created by TMPGEnc and click "OK". Now your audio will be linked to the video track and the audio will be in a standard format that most dvd players will recognize.
I wanted to post this reply to your issue, but I just opened an account and it won't be active for posts for a few days. So you may want to cut and paste this reply to your original post if this resolves your issue. It worked for me. Let me know if you still experience problems.
