  1. I recently obtained a Xvid conversion of a movie that has a bitrate of about 830kb/s (basicly one CD = 90 minutes). Should I bother with a DVD bitrate, or do you recomend SVCD or VCD in this case.

do whatever you want with it ... what looks good to you ..

if you want best -- just watch it as is on your pc .

if you have a dvd burner - convert it to dvd

if you have a cd burner - convert is to svcd (if your dvd player can play them)

My question was if there would be an image improvement. Sure I can burn it to DVD, but why bother if that extra bitrate is not going to give me a better picture.

  5. I understand that. What I'm wondering is how much better Xvid compression is. Is it going to be fit for a SVCD bitrate or a DVD bitrate?

i answered that question the first time , before you changed questions ..

i dont know the quality of your file - but i suspect svcd would be alright ..

though nothing wrong w/ converting it to dvd either ..
