  1. I am having trouble burning an SVCD that will play in my APEX 600a. Someone told me that some players like the movie file folder to be named MPEGAV, while others like MPEG2, and some don't care. Is this true? If so I'd like to know how to rename folders, or get a folder name of MPEGAV for an SVCD using Nero 5.0.3.8. I'd like to try this last step before I try flashing/replacing the EPROM on my player.

  2. For what it's worth I've got an Apex AD600A and it plays pretty much and x(S)VCD I through at it up to 3000kbit/s. What are you using to encode your MPEG, what are you using to burn it?

What I normally do is put in the xSVCD, close the tray, wait for the APEX to see it "SVCD PBC On", wait for that message to disappear, wait another 5-10secs, and hit play.

If I just put the disc in and hit play from the get go, I get this 'stop hand' in the top left conner of the screen.

  3. This is the first time I've tried an SVCD, so I'm learning some things. One of them is that you have to wait a little longer than a normal VCD, like you mentioned. The problem I think is media, but I'm not sure. I've got one CD that's a Memorex, and another that's Prime Peripherals, both burned the same way, same programs. Both of the CDs work, I found out, after waiting a while (like 30-45secs) for it to init. The Memorex one seems to work better though.

I've converted the bin to mpg using VCDGear2.0 and then burned with Nero 5.0.3.8 on a Plextor 8x CD (burning at 2x), SCSI to SCSI.

Vejita-sama: have you upgraded the firmware on your player? Mine is still with the original version, but I think I might upgrade since I've had other issues with the 'slip-streamed' type of DVDs (Terminator2). I don't use the loophole menu anyway, and hopefully it will fix my issues.
