I tried the SVCD Fix Guide just posted on the main page today. When I tried to use TMPGEnc to demulitplex the file, I highlighted the file and then hit open. It said 'Illegal MPEG Stream' (<-- not vebatim). Any help? I tried using DVD2AVI to make a project file (worked) and then used TMPGEnc to open the .d2v and .mpa. It worked up until the last frame and then it just hung up and the elapsed time guage just kept going and never stopped. I closed TMPGEnc with ctrl+alt+del and reopened it. I then pointed to the new movie file I cut off at the end and it said 'unsupported file'.

This is a different question but I didn't wanna flood and make mulitple posts. Where and how can I save the settings of TMPGEnc? I don't want the auto-setting for SVCD on that lowers the bitrate of the video to fit it onto a disc on, so every time I use the wizard I have to uncheck it and set it back to 2520. Is there a config. file or maybe a registry key?

This is off topic, but in Windows XP is there a way to disable that annoying task/program that trys to clear up RAM when you're low on it? (not a RAM cleaning 3rd party program, the one included with Windows XP that's just as annoying as the included firewall) -
If you save a template in the extra directory it will put it under the heading of other in the wizard.

Okay. I want to overburn VCDs and SVCDs. Since they don't have a filesystem, they can be overburned substantially more than game cds etc (I guess
). I trust burning at 800 MB, but is 850 good as well?
-
No 850 is pushing it, 815-820 depending on media and burner, if you want to go higher you can get discs that allow burning upto 99mins. How much you can actually burn on them depends on your burner.
-
Heh. I remember burning 950 MB Discs before. 815-820? Sure I'll agree with that...
-
I just started up TMPGEnc and told it to take up 820 megs (which was 2380 kbits). I'm trying to be annoying, but you're postive about the 820 megabyte limit? Assuming everything is perfect, media burner etc., then 820 is the limit?
-
No I cannot positively say that 820mb will fit with the burner and media you are using, its just a case of try it and see. I have done 815mb, or a 1.5 minute overburn with VCD.
-
Okay it worked at 820. I'll take your word on it. I tried burning an SVCD that totaled at 865 MB and with my Memorex CD-r it got up to 96%, which is about 830 MBs. Thanks for the support guys
.

Hmm, I spose I'll screw this overburning crap. I tried it at 820 and it failed burning. It cut off about 6-7 minutes of the end. I was watching it and about minute 37 of 43 it just stood there. Maybe I'll just try overburning at 800 MB and forget about getting as much as possible on the disc...

Okay. When using the wizard, mainly for NTSC VCD & SVCD, for just converting say avi to mpeg, is it best to just use all the default options except maybe the disc size you're using and in expert settings to change full screen to full screen (keep aspect ratio)? That seems to be fine but maybe something else should be done to make it 'better'?
