I have a large Mpeg-1 file of a movie. And would like to be able to split it up into smaller parts,to make veiewing easier when burnt to VCD.Like taking a hour long Mpeg movie and divideing it up into 6 individual tracks.
Anyone know of any simple,no hassel programs that can do this?

Open TMpegEnc, go to File/MPEG Tools/Merge&Cut. Remember to set Type to MPEG1 Video-CD.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand binary
and those who don't. -
Hi,
You should try tmpgenc! www.tmpgenc.com
Using the mpeg tools, it will let you cut split the big file.

I think if you cut an MPEG-1 with VirtualDub it will have to re-convert it back to an .avi since VirtualDub doesn't convert to MPEG.Originally Posted by kitty

The best program I've found is CINAX
because it doesn't re-render MPEG-1.. It just adds or subtracts
It has a Video CD mode that retains compliance to make VCDS.. I recommend it for joining and seperating MPEG-1 accurately -
Then you screwed up, the only reason for this happenening is because you didn't set any edit points.Originally Posted by Star Warrior
When you double click on a file in "Merge & Cut" it shows a timeline at the bottom with the portion you have selected in blue. Choose the time period you want to keep by moving the little arrow to the first frame you want to keep and click the { button now shift the arrow to the end of what you want to keep and click the } button, now click on OK. Now enter an output filename and click run. Now repeat this for each of the segments you want to split the MPEG into. -
Did you set your start and end points, and give it a new output name. TMPGEnc, is a pretty good mpeg1 cutter, and fairly straightforward to use.Originally Posted by Star Warrior
