Why is it the movies are on a 9+ gig DVD yet we can't buy them (Empty DVD+R) in the store. Are they available but too expensive? With the Music CD burners the media was the same size yet with dvd they are not.

the retail dvds are pressed, not burned the way we would do it at home...the lasers in the home burners would have to be able to penetrate one layer to write a second layer, without damaging the first...the lasers for dual layer dvds and such are very very expensiveOriginally Posted by Marco33

The cost to develop is to great.
