  1. Im using Virtualdub to do captures with a WinTV-HVR-1600 , Everything works fine except that when the captured file gets to big I cannot get nero vision to recognize it or any other programs. any sugestions ?

    I know that your are running winXP. But is your drive format NTFS or FAT32?

    Go into my computer and right click the drive >properties to confirm its NTFS.

    avi is a general term. what codec is it being encoded with? some have specific limits on size.

    shouldn't have a max file size then on ntfs drives.... try opening it with gspot and see what it comes up with.

  9. I think I may have it, i ended up using huffy codec and it seems to work now. Huffy is lossless, right ? im worried about loosing video quality

    According th the specs the WinTV-HVR-1600 is a hardware MPEG2 encoder, capturing to anything other than MPEG2 is pointless and will actually degrade it.

  11. hmm, ok, can virtual dub capture to mpeg2 ? I hope so because ive tried studio,nero vision, windows dvd maker, and vegas and virtualdub is the only one i can get to recognize my video card

    Use the software that came with the card. Import the captured MPEG into whatever...
