Problem creating VCD fromAVI

I have a problem putting an AVI onto a VCD. I have a bunch of 30minute AVI's. All of them convert to VCD without problems, using NERO 5.5.8.2, except one which returns the error "Error during encoding".

I tried to convert it to MPEG using TMPGEnc but the sound gets lost!

The AVI plays perfectly in Microsoft Media Player 8.

It's got me beat!

Any helpful suggestions appreciated!

First of all...do not use Nero to encode...(its ok for burning but useless at encoding).
Use TMPGE...much better.
The message you get might indicate some bad frames.
Run it through the Virtualdub > File > Movie.avi > Video > Scan Video Stream For Errors.
You can try to resolve by
1)Running it again through Virtualdub > Video > Direct Stream > Audio > Direct Stream > Save As AVI.
2)Run it through DivFix (assuming its a DIVX)
3)Remove the bad frames (if Virtualdub detected any)
4)Extract audio using...you've guessed it..Virtualdub ,and save as a WAV and using it as Audio Source in TMPGE.

Option 4 did the trick.

I loaded the AVI into Virtual Dub and imediately got a message about improper VBR audio encoding, which it altered automatically. The sound was then out of sync with the video. I saved the audio to a WAV and put the whole lot back together again using TMPGEnc.

Everything is now correct. I have a VCD with both video and audio, both of which are in sync.

Good..I'm glad one of the suggestions worked..
The Nimo Codec Pack is a collection of mostl of the available a/v codecs used today.
If you have it downloaded 99% of the movies you download or capture will be playable and usable.
