  1. I've had this problem a while now and completely stumped. I encode to MPEG using Smartripper, DVD2AVI and Tmpg. When I play the mpeg it looks and sounds fine. BUT, as soon as I burn to VCD using latest NERO or VCDEasy, the playback looks fine and sounds fine but I get the odd skip evret few minutes or so. Looks like the video sticks then continues again. Quite annoying, as original MPEG does not do this.

I have defragmented hard drive, the source is PAL and is burned as PAL. Everything is completly VCD standard. I even created a DAT file from the MPEG and played that from my hard drive thru POWERDVD and it created the exact same error at the same points so its not the burner, its the prcedure of turning the MPEG into a VCD compliant file.

What could possibly be causing this skipping in the video????

    Any help appreciated.

  6. Thanks for replies but it does it no matter what speed I burn it at. My pC specs are 750DURON, 256MB RAM, 5400 speed HD (20GB).

Thing is it has worked fine in the past. Just started having this problem recently.

Try changing the type of discs you are using and use slow speed for reading and writing

  8. I have been having a lot of problems simular to yours. I finnally nutted it out that it was the version of Nero that I was using. I was using 5.5.5.6 and had skipping and major pixelation.

Changed to an older version 5.5.0 and the VCD's burnt beautifully.

Guess it is a problem with the way that Nero burns. Give it a go!!

  9. Try turning the MPEG1 file into a BIN file.

  10. I have a similar problem with skipping although it mostly is limited to my system when playing VCDs with PowerDVD. When I play them on the stand-alone Sony player there are no skips at all. I figured that my machine has a bottleneck somewhere, but if it works with my player I'm not too concerned about it. Is it the same thing with your setup?
