Is there a way to do a DVD header trick???
I have an SVCD MPEG2 that I'm trying to play in my DVD player and I was thinking that it may work if I labeled it as a DVD-since I know my player will play DVD MPEG2s??
I can do the VCD header, it's just that in order for it to work, I have to jack the bitrate down so much that it's virtually a VCD anyway.
Suggestions?

Hi NVOGEL,
You can try a program named DVDPatcher. I've put KVCDx3 ( 528x480 ) mpeg files on a DVD, and played the DVD back on 5 different DVD models. Plays perfectly
So probably you can patch your SVCD mpeg files too. Give it a try. Here's the link for the program: http://kickme.to/DVDPatcher

I doubt it very much. The VCD header trick is done on the mpeg-file and then you write it to CD in VCD format. The most likley reason you have to lower the bitrate so much is the speed at which your player can read CDR(W) media is low. So even if such a strange disk as you describe were possible it almost certainly wouldn't help in your case.Originally Posted by NVOGEL
You can author DVD-r with SVCD format video which though non-standard seems to work in quite a few players, so if you have a DVD burner you could try this. There is a guide under Authoring. -
Actually, I was wondering if there was a way that you could label an SVCD MPEG2 file as a DVDMPEG2 file and burn it onto a CD-R, not a DVD. It would just be labeled as a DVD (like the SVCDmpg2 file is labeled as a VCD in the header trick)
Thanks for your input! -
That's exactly what I did with DVDPatcher, as posted above. Just make sure your audio is encoded at 48Khz and not at 44.1Khz, and you can burn your mpeg with DVD MovieFactory or DVDit.Originally Posted by NVOGEL
