I'm not sure how to describe this but I will try. I have downloaded several ST-TNG dvd rips which has been encoded DVD2VCD by the owner using TMPGEnc. I download and burn using VCDeasy. When played on my stand-along DVD player I find several spots where the video fast forwards for a few seconds throwing the audio out of sync. The video then slows down and the audio catches up.
I thought the problem might have been the burn program (VCDEasy), so I burned with several other programs including Nero. Same result.
I also downloaded other ST-TNG episodes from different sources in AVI format (DVDrip to AVI). I convert the episodes myself by extracting the audio with Virtudub, saving as WAV and the encoding using TMPGEnc as the guide this site provides says to do. Then I burn and get the same result. Every episode regardless of its format and its source turns out with the same problem.
Here's the kicker. Everything else I have ever encoded either as a VCD or SVCD using TMPGEnc has worked perfect. It is only the ST-TNG episodes -- even though they are all coming from different sources and in different formats.
What am I missing? Any insight would be appreciated.
TIA

Yeah, i have the same problem! I d/l farpoint ep 1 just to try and see if i could make a vcd, burned it and its the same problem you are having.
i dont even think my episode was from a dvd because the coms are cut out. I thought it was something i was doing wrong. I would love for someone to tell us what's happening. -
I've been doing more reading and discovered that this may be a problem with PAL incompatability. It seems that my DVD player (RCA RC5240P) does not do well with PAL format (25 fps). I experimented with various settings and encoded with TMPGEnc in NTSC format. This does seem to help quite a bit, but it has not eliminated the problem.
In reading reviews from others who have the same DVD Player there seems to be inconsistencies. Some have this same problem while others have no problem at all. I just don't get it.
I thought that it may be problem authoring and burning. But I have been thinking that it may instead be an encoding problem. I have been scouring the encoding forum looking for some answers. So far I have had little luck, but I will continue to search.
