  1. Do any DVD-Rs play on the PlayStation 2 without having to get your PlayStation 2 modded? Thanks!

  4. drew what tmpg templates are you using? I've been using the NTSC template and DVD kind of skip when i play them on PS2, while CCE encoded DVD play fine.

  5. I use the standard NTSC template but I change the bitrate and aspect ratio (accordingly)

It is possible though, that it is your laser. I have been told that they can get a bit off center after some time and while store bought games and DVDs still work fine, homemade ones don't quite work.

    two options:

    1) put your ps2 in the "other" position, whichever one you have not been using (upright or horiz) The laser will be in "new" condition theoretically, based on the way the little mechanism wears out. You should have about the same amount of time before it gets bad that way too.

    2) have the laser recalibrated by a mod place or sony, if it is under warranty. it is supposed to be pretty cheap.
