  1. Hi. I'd like to know which software package you suggest I use for authoring my DVDs. Presently I have DVDit PE and SpruceUP.

SpruceUP appeals to me, since it will not waste time and space converting the audio track to uncompressed PCM. That means to me more films on one DVD

Are there other authoring programs that work this way?

DVDit PE is nice, and sometimes will accept mpg files that SpruceUP wont take in. Beats me why.

I'll give you an example: I have an mpg-1 file that when I try to add to SpruceUP will not take in the audio track. - I know, 100%, that the audio is OK, but still the program will not take it in. (feel free to give me some advise on this).

If I instead of SpruceUP use DVDit PE it works like a charm. No problems.
    Weird, huh?

So... What do I do? Is there some other program I could/should use for authoring my DVDs??

    Thankfull for any reply.

  2. Ulead DVD MF and WS support MP2 audio and are easy to use. One is cheap, another feature-rich. Do not accept all MPEG files tough, but then often this file has only to be re-muxed.

  3. If U are willing to spend some money I would suggest DVD Maestro. Bot the easiest to use but you can control virtually every aspect of the navigation and such. I have used it for a couple of months now and haven't had any problem with it.

  4. Ulead DVD Workshop is a good choice, expensive, but it's very stable and does the job well. If you value your time, then it's not that expensive! Supports MPEG audio, customize menus, reads mpeg1/2, avi & mov... There is a trial that you can download.

Pinnacle Studio 8 has a lot more features, but it's so buggy that many users can't use it at all. The time line editor is excellent, has many effects, powerful menu editor... This would be my first choice, but it has so many bugs that I can't use it at all (even with latest patch). You can also get a trial.
