    Hello all!!

I'm back - with a vengense!! (for now)

Ok, I finally got to another level with CCE.
I was able to mux or whatnot (don't know the exact
fraze for this audio merging thing). Anyway, I
figured out that, in TMPGEnc your have have to go
    to "File/MPEG tools" and select:
    * Multiplex
    * drag the two files (via CCE) .mpa and .mpv into
the window and then click OK

Yes, then it burned properly in Nero.
But, I have serious audio sync proplems you wound'nt
believe - or would ya! I'm sure you all ben there.
the mpg file, when played on my pc, the audio is IN
sync, but when I play it on my standalone DVD player,
    it's way out of sync.

I read that muxing is better in bbMPEG, but I never
seen the actual steps posted here. And, I just read
a post by {switu} and he/she went on asking: "...did
you demux and mux using bbmpeg?"
Any way, I managed to get bbMPEG b18 and I'm now even
more confused (the help guide was lacking big time).
I finally found the settings button. You have to click
on the "Start Encoding" button and then click on the
"Settings" button. But, I'm more confused becaues there
were so many tabs, and a few of them have audio/vide
settings and things on each tab, but I don't know which
to click and on and adjust.
In short, How do I, ok, demux and mux (is that the
proper order?) ?? Some good steps on what to check/uncheck
and input into the boxes and what to leave as defaults,
etc. I really want ta do this one right!

    All assistance is appreciated.

    Thank you!

PS: My test clips are pretty small - clip is a captured
sequence from Star Trek NG of last week.

After you click on start encoding, choose input/output files. There you choose your audio source (AS), video source (VS) & end file (PS). Go to format (I think I don't have it running right now) & choose SVCD. Click OK, the window will close, & click on start encoding in the window that's open.

Hope that made sense. Trying to make it short, but to the point.

    Sully,

    Afternoon. . .
I can't try what you wrote down here because I long ago
deleted the file(s), all I have left are two new files
that I've ben playing with in CCE. Anyway, I don't know
if you're familiar with CCE, but just in case you are...

I turned on LOG file and this is what its error
    message says below:
    ---------------------------
    biCompression = MJPG
    fccHandler = MJPG
    trying yuy2.
    ICDecompressBegin() failed : -2
    encoding canceled.
    ---------------------------

This is a capture from my dc10+ card, and the AVI file
was not modified - in other words, I didn't choose to
re-encode to huffy or ATI vcr1, etc. It's the origonal,
    unaltered AVI stream from dc10+.

I've tried (o)ES and (o)PS combinatoin with an uncheck
and checked [x] audio, but this error keep poping up.
It just wont let me go further!

Do YOU have any other suggesitons?

    Thank you!

    I'm quite familiar with CCE.

If you just have your uncompressed .avi files, then I don't get the reply about you not having the old files anymore, just 2 new ones.

Since I've never done any encoding with a captured source before, there's not a lot of advice I can give. I can tell you, just do the VIDEO with CCE. Use toolame to do the audio & then muliplex them together with bbMPEG.

From the error message... it sounds like it is already in a MPEG format & NOT an AVI format.

I don't quite understand what you meant with you dragged the files via CCE either. Do you mean you drag & dropped the file ENCODED with CCE to TMPGEnc?

IF your source is an actual AVI, CCE should be able to handle it. What's the frame-rate of your source file?

Also, hate to say this, but Nero is NOT the best or most compatible of burn programs when it comes to (S)VCD. If you check out the burn section in the forum you'll notice A LOT of the post deal with problems relating to Nero.

Main thing is, make sure you're using a correct .avi file AND frame-rate. If your source is MPEG you'll need to frameserve with AVISynth using the MPEG2DEC codec (.dll).

    Sully,

I was refereing to my origonal avi files I used in the encoding
project, at the time. Those files are gone. I'm not shure if I
encoded them to huffy avi or if the file was mjpeg from dc10+.

And, yes, these files ARE mjpeg from my captured source,
unaltered. The problem I am having is not the encoding to
huffy avi or ATI vcr1, etc, ...but rather, the LENGTH IN TIME to
encode from mjpeg TO huffy (or any other avi format), via the
Studio DC10+ Make Video button. It's unbelievable. And, just
for a 30sec clip, it could take 5 minutes - not image an hours
worth to encode (convert?) to avi!! That's why I've ben using
the mjpeg file instead. But, I guess there are problems with
    this route.

Ok, the dragging part that I'm talking about is when you have
TMPGEnc open and from my D: I drag the avi file or mp2, mpv
files into the window, and it's suppose to automatically know
which file is which (audio/video) and do it's busness.

    ** TOOLAME **
I've tried to download toolame all over the net. I have about 17
    of them all i.e.,
    01.toolame, 02.toolame, 03.toolame, etc.

Reason why I have it (above) is because I couldn't figure out why
none of the versions I was downloading were not working (uncompressing)
that is. So I numbered them to keep track of there size and date, etc. to
keep track of how many times I was downloading this file.

Anyhow, all the above downloads were either .tar or .gz or something, but
I can't get them to uncompress - must be doing something wrong. In any
case, (after giving up), is there a site I missed that HAS it in .zip format,
and that the Link to site is working? I can't find any other place that has
a working version - yet! Or, can you or anybody just .zip it and e-mail a
    copy to me?

Also, I'm not sure what you ment by,
"Use toolame to do the audio " part, and then
    "muliplex them together with bbMPEG."

I really do need some help here as well.

    Appreciate your help.

As I mentioned CCE only accepts AVI files (directly at least). If your source is mpg you'll need to frameserve it & use the mpeg2dec codec.

Well, welcome to the world of encoding video material. It IS a very time consuming hobby. As a general rule you can expect CCE to take about 3hrs. to encode per hour of movie.

This is kinda old, but try this thread. It might help with frameserving & multiplexing with bbMPEG. http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=51048&forum=11. HOPEFULLY a "real" version (& updated) will be available online soon.

As far as I know there's a link to DL toolame on this site in the tools section. If you can't get a working version let me know & I'll mail you one.

Let me know how you make out.
