  1. It weird, I just got started in VCD's. I made my first one and was so happy cause it worked, but then I noticed that the play back was blocky and the video pulsed about every 2-5 seconds and was really hard on your eyes. Can anyone help me on how to fix this. I used nero to burn.

  2. I had this problem and two solutions seem to work. By the way - I use Nero 5.5. First adjust the burn speed down - you may need to experiment. My drive supports 40x burn but i find the best results are 12x burn for VCD's. A little slower but there you go. Another solution that may help is to experiment with your blank media - Phillips and Emtec (BASF) seem to work best with my (Freecom) drive. 8)

  4. You'll probably need to give a little more info next time (What kind of DVD player, what are you using to encode, what bitrate, etc) But I'd guess that your player might have poor vcd support or that it was encoded improperly. Based on your info, it really could be a hundred different things. More info?

  5. I used nero to encode the vcd. Not sure what exactly the bitrate was, more than likely the default for nero. The DVD player used was a GE 1101P. Every once and awhile the player had to play "catch up" with the video, any way to fix that.

  6. I think we're a little closer...Nero's encoder SUCKS! Get TMPGEnc and let it encode your source files. It's one of the best encoders out there and there is a trial available. Nero is a great burning program but it can't do much else.

  7. What format are your source files, and what did you use to create/capture them?

  9. Karl- try your discs on another player...i couldn't find anywhere that gave a decent review of the capabilities of the scdm3. it could be a problem with your player

Pickle- what else are you using?

  11. Rightnow Im using nero to burn and TMPGEnc to encode (like they told me). hopefully that will get rid of those problems. What can I use to creat menus.... is nero still ok to use?

Could changing the frames per second make a difference when ripping it ??

  13. ok, i got the program vcdeasy and am now making menus. but one of the menus keeps going green after a few seconds. It is set on "wait infinity" but the screen still goes completely green. the menu items are still selectable.

  14. sorry about the delay- had to entertain some friends this evening. Karl, you need to know if it is a DVD-R or a DVD+R, because there is a big difference. Again, i would recommend taking the dvd to a friend's house and playing it on his recorder to see if it does the same thing (make sure it's a good player). Another solution may be something as simple as switching brands- some discs just burn better than others. For DVD compliant video the FPS must be 29.97! it won't work right if it's anything else. so, yes, changing the fps can and will make a difference.

Pickle- try the trial for ulead dvd workshop, as i think it will do everything you want it to do and more (very easy). nero's menu support leaves a little to be desired....
