Ive tried loads of different methods of encoding an MPEG-2 to an MPEG-1 but non of them have worked. Ive tried TMPGEnc and the MPEG-2 File won't open. Ive tried all the codecs, ive tried uping the priority of the media reader in enviroment settings and still i get a 'file unsupported' sign. Does anybody out there know of an easy way to encode a MPEG-2 file to an MPEG-1 without using TMPGEnc.
Cheers

TMPG can't read MPEG2. But if you install PowerDVD (even trial verion) it will! (Or was it WinDVD - I always forget - gotta defrag my brain!

ive tried using dvd2avi but it just freezes. I spose it might be a dodgy file but it plays fine. The whole point is im trying to make a vcd with 3 episodes on. I always use nero and haven't had a problem till this file came along. When you drag and drop it into the new vcd it says that the file is in MPEG-2 format and needs to be in a MPEG-1 format to put on a VCD, so i thought i'd encode it, which lead to my original problem. Is it dodgy file or am i doing som thing wrong. Any help would be muchly accepted.
