You need the correct codec installed to play the movie correctly. Try installing the nimo codec pack. This has most of the codecs you will ever need.

I down loaded the nimo pack. Now what do i need to do in order to play my newly downloaded movie on my comp?
-
You don't have to do anything.
You just leave the Codec Pack in any folder and the player will find it."Today is only yesterdays tomorrow" -
The player is playing the movie but no picture or sound is present. What next?

ahh...I was'nt paying attention.
I thought you were referring to a video zip file...mmm!!
Confusion is my middle name.
Do you have other movies or video files...?
Try them to see if its an issue with that particular file or all of them.
When you went into Virtualdub, did you...
File > Open > Movie.avi ? first before attempting to read Information?"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow"
