    I use Nero to convert MPGs to VCD/SVCD. Even though I input a still image and text, this does not show up when I attempt to play them. Each VCD I burn, I have to navigate to the MPEGAV folder and play the .dat file. Any ideas?

    It may be a compatibility issue with your dvd player. In nero, change the mpgav to the other option and see if that works.

    I don't think it's my DVD player since I've played VCD's that other people have burned and they play automatically.

    Can you clarify what you mean by 'change the mpgav to the other option'?
