  1. I have a Panasonic NV-HS1000 that keeps thinking it got a tape inside even though there is none. This will lead to the tape being ejected everytime I put it in, everything else looks to be fine. Tried to adjust the mode switch but since the mode switch position differs between the units there is no 100% correct answear and it looks like it's a non seperateable one unless you drill a hole and reglue it.

Did you check the cassette detection switch? Ohm it and see if it's shorted.

  3. You can open the m.s entirely , you just need a little blade to cut the retainer jus enough on top that hold the gear so it can pop out, and then you clean it good

Not sure where the cassette detection switch is or if it have one. Check attached picture and see if you can locate it with a red ring. I also did some recordings of the tape getting ejected and how it acts when i plug in the power cord. Will upload later today.

It could be anywhere around the tape, Inside the tape basket, on the chassis where the tape sits, anything that triggers the "cassette" logo on the front display, Get the service manual.

  6. They're either on a little board that's screwed to the mech , below it or a large mainboard. 1st option is my guess.

What makes you think that VCR "keeps thinking it got a tape inside even though there is none"?
Anyway, check if capstan (capstan shaft) start spinning when you load the tape.

  9. This is what happens when I plug in the power cord. And as you can see the tape symbol is on, which means it thinks there is a tape inside which it is clearly not.

  11. Small chance, but try.
    1. Unplug the main power cord from the back of the VCR completely.
    2. Press and hold down the physical EJECT button on the front panel.
    3. While keeping the EJECT button held down, plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    4. Continue holding the button for 5–10 seconds. You may hear the internal motors whirring as it attempts a forced cycle reset.

If it won't help, then the problem most likely is in "Cassette Down" micro-switch.
It should be near the back or side of the tape carriage basket, there is a tiny mechanical leaf switch or sensor that physically clicks down only when a tape basket reaches the bottom of the deck

Took a couple of pictures, can you see the micro switch in any of the pictures?
