Hi, I have these two "Starting cycle" locked DVDR and I can't find a firmware functional download link anywhere.
Does anyone have the zipped file or an iso copy of the Philips CD?
    Many thanks.

you try the reset procedure yet?

    Factory Reset Instructions

Disconnect the recorder from the power outlet.
Press and hold down STANDBY-ON button on the front of the recorder while reconnecting to the power outlet.
Release STANDBY-ON button when ‘STARTING’ appears on the display.
Wait until the recorder’s demo start scrolling on the display, press STANDBY-ON again to turn on the recorder. All the information stored in the memory (programmes, time) will be cleared. The initial installation menu will be displayed on the TV.

    Hi, thanks for attention.
Yes, I’ve tried reset, but the message "starting" remains on the display—as if I hadn’t pressed any buttons at all.
The problem appears to be a corrupted firmware on the hard drive.
If I install an hard drive from another DVDR unit (a 3570 model), "demo" text appears, and it doesn't get stuck on "starting."
Also, when connected to a PC, the original hard drive seems fine—aside, of course, from the fact that no partitions are visible.
The DVDR also gets stuck on "starting" when a third, unformatted hard drive is used. According to the manual and what I’ve read on various forums, a firmware update—followed by formatting via the DVDR unit itself—appears to be essential, but, sadly, no firmware file available here..

I used to have the firmware update for my DVDR985....but I think that monster pre-dates your machines.

I’m not sure, but I think the DVDR3590H firmware is compatible with the DVDR3570H too, but not others models.
