hi all,
automatically if I use the cut tool, the first track is cut while to move to the second I have to click with the left mouse on the cursor on the second track. Is there a quicker and safer way to move from the first to the second and cut the second and not the first?

When nothing is selected, Vegas splits every event under the cursor on all tracks, and clicking on the second track moves the cursor, which is what keeps tripping you up.
Ctrl+click the event on the second track instead. Ctrl+click selects it without moving the cursor, and then S splits only the selected event under the cursor, so the first track stays whole. If you want both tracks cut at that point, Ctrl+click both events (or click empty timeline so nothing is selected) and press S.
There's also a one-step way: hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift and click the event on track 2. That splits just that event right where you click.
