Could someone be so kind and upload some short clips (~30 seconds is fine) from a D-VHS deck captures via firewire?
In the process of making a WinDV-style capture app (with many more features, and completely written from scratch), we need some sample clips from a D-VHS deck.
(see: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/421070-Modern-WinDV-style-app-coming-soon)
We need these, although mainly #3:
1. D-VHS HD tape — ideally the D-Theater demo tape, around 25 Mb/s.
2. Analog tape played in the D-VHS deck — S-VHS or VHS, producing the deck’s roughly 12.4 Mb/s digital output
3. ATSC broadcast recording played from D-VHS tape — roughly 19 Mb/s. Requires a deck with a built-in ATSC tuner or a recording made through a compatible FireWire tuner.
Captured directly from FireWire, with no FFmpeg processing, remuxing, or re-encoding.
If you can upload such files, it'll be much appreciated. Please also include the deck's model number, i.e. HM-DH30000, etc.

It looks like the D-Theater Demo is encrypted. But I did find a tape with Seabiscuit recorded HD OTA! I am attaching both in dropbox.
If I can track down a Samsung T165, I think that's the only way to get past the d-theater encryption. So I will keep an eye out! -
i have plenty of recordings. i'll see if i can send some your way, most of the stuff i've uploaded online are remuxed (still raw raw) and repaired so i dunno if it fits your criteria.
there is a way to record d-theater tapes over firewire. avoid the t165. it tints the image blue and won't give you a bitstream capture. i used a japanese tv tuner modded with capusb 1394. https://pbx.mine.nu/isdb/1394/
don't know if its still available though. that's the only way i was able to get around it. i was able to transfer my d-theater tapes and my tapes that were recorded off dish network in the late 90s with this. -
ENunn did you use the Toshiba TT-D3000? I missed out on an eBay listing last month with one already fitted with the USB mod, Damn it. Any chance of selling yours?

I contacted the CapUSB guy and he responded, He still offers the mods for DIY for like $20 but the shipping and tariffs will be the major cost, I also asked him about the T165 issue you encountered and his response was, and I quote:
completely untrue, besides firewire capture is by definition of it a bitstream, what the t165 hdmi etc outputs doesn't matter - the USB board already grabbed the original TS from FireWire. -
sorry for the late response. mine was the tt-d2000. i bought mine from the guy who made it pre modded. no plans on selling mine atm, i got more tapes to do once i get my deck repaired.
what i meant was that you won't get a clean copy protection free recording through the firewire ports when plugged into a pci firewire card. i tried that when i got one and it didn't work for me so i ended up using the dvi port until i got my d2000. it got the job done but i had to do some color correction in avisynth. you can mod it with capusb 1394 though and it will work fine.
