  1. I just downloaded the demo version and on first glance it APPEARS to run with wine.
I contacted dvdfab for confirmation but they just replied that there is no linux version which was not what i was asking.

So are here people that tried or do successfully run dvdfab in wine?
    Does it work or not?

  2. I haven't used the last few versions of DVDFab but I have a lifetime license from them. I use Crossover rather than Wine but both are based on the same code and it seemed to work perfectly. I use Kubuntu Linux 23.10.

    Well that's good news.
Guess i wait a little longer for others to share their experiences and then probably go ahead and buy it.

  6. Two years late but I thought I'd reply to this. I've been able to run both the current version of DVDFab (13) and the XP version of DVDFab 9 on my Linux machine. I'm running Linux Mint 22.3 and a positively ancient version of Wine (9.0) that comes from the Ubuntu repository.

v13 runs but with some issues: if I don't close some of their in-app popups quick enough then the program tends to hang and the process has to be killed. The UI is also slow to update. It works though, at least well enough to decrypt and copy one of my Blu-Rays.

v9 works much better... at least the XP version does. The latest non-XP version (9.3.2.1) fails with an "unknown error" when trying to load a disc. However, the latest Windows XP version (9.2.4.5) works exactly like you'd expect, though I did have to restart it once to read a new disc I'd swapped in. The UI is also a little slow but just a little, nowhere near as bad as v13. You can still download 9.2.4.5 from DVDFab's download server, though they no longer link to it on their site.

Oh, and as for why you'd want to use v9 over v13: Full Disc and Main Movie copy in v9 are Free features and not limited by the trial period. As long as you're using it to extract Blu-Rays from about 2018 or before (or any DVDs) it's just as good as any of the newer versions.
