    I wasn't sure whether this query belonged here, or under Hardware | Portable Video -- because the item in question is basically easily moved to other home locations. I'm trying to troubleshoot a so far unfixable loss of Wi-Fi connectivity in my DirecTV setup -- older dish & satellite setup, not the all-via-Internet-streaming alternative service that they are trying hard to move their users over to. In this case, pre-Genie, HR-series sat receivers fortified with the Cinema Connection Kit add-on. Have tried all the by now very familiar troubleshooting steps, without success. I'm thinking one of my two CCK units has probably failed. The other one in another location in the residence continues working as before. It would be much worse if the fault turned out to be in the respective DTV receiver's Wi-Fi instead.

    So, my question: the units in question are the DCAWR10-01, which are several years old by this point. I don't really recall whether they were ever previously replaced with succeeding units -- that's possible. I don't recall any previous other model hardware units. But also possible. My DTV service has been in effect for at least 15 years. Over that period, at least a couple of the DVR sat receivers had died (the HDD or the power supply, usually), and had gotten replaced with other, similar receivers.

    What I've been seeing among the informational data in my network router is a mention of two WET-610 units, plausibly also labeled as "Upstairs" and "Downstairs." Are these the same units as the DCAWR10-01 CCKs, by another name ? Or does that reflect some prior hardware and hardware addresses on the network ? Google AI failed to be able to answer this.

    @Seeker I wish I can help you with this, but I am not familiar with the USA satellite system Direct TV which seem to be the only operator in the USA.
    Looking at the price tag of the service, it is really very expensive compared to even our local TV which are quite high.
    Have you tried to get their support people to come and understand your problem and hopefully give you a solution?
    I am assuming the support is free as long as you are a paying member, but I could be wrong when it comes to a single operator in the region.
    Try searching YouTube there are always people with similar problems.

    In Europe we are blessed with many satellites and many operators from each country.
    Although each operator has their official satellite receiver, we have more flexibility in using our own receivers to watch channels, especially the clear (FTA = Free To Air) TV and radio channels.
    The most popular receivers are the Enigma 2 receivers and these day the 4K receivers are the most popular.
    Most operators now have streaming channels as well but I personally prefer the satellite system any time to streaming.
    I can record several TV channels at once, without using the internet. But these days I hardly record anything because I am busy doing other things.

    @Subtitles,
    Thanks -- as always -- for your reply.
    Actually, there is more in the way of Satellite provider services here in the U.S. DISH is a longtime competitor, and last I heard they were still around. There are at least a couple others one sees ads for on tv. Hughes (?). Elon's Starlink has gotten into the game, but that might just be for Internet, I don't know offhand. Anyway, AT&T, known for its wretched customer service, owns both U-Verse (a cable hybrid), which it is actively phasing out, and DirecTV, which it has wanted to unload almost ever since acquiring it a few years back. DTV has been trying to move its customers over to a vis-Internet-streaming-only offshoot of its service -- something I'm not at all interested in. The satellite service has been FAR more reliable ! DTV, winner of numerous tech awards in its past, was once the "Bentley" of the industry, but IMO as a longtime customer it has gradually been descending to more of a "Honda" level.

    Acting on my leading theory about this, I have ordered (possibly overdue) replacement units of the CCK bridge devices. When this arrives, it may tell the tale. While I have had DTV techs come to me over the years to resolve other problems -- most recently, to replace some external corroded external wiring nearer to the roof-mounted sat dish, which was glitching out after any moisture got in -- but where it's more possible I try to work things out myself. Thus, more recently, I used some Internet instructions to pair a spare remote that had to replace a dead one. This proved a lot more complicated than one might have imagined, taking over half an hour until final success. (Subtleties of IR vs. RF, either of which could be arranged.) I'll put in a call to DTV if my own efforts fail.
