  1. I hope billybanana is alright. Ozivine is a terrific program and I am grateful for it and hopefully it continues for a long time yet.

  2. Indeed - Ozivine is solid and very useful work, and be a real shame for it to disappear. Fingers crossed he is just taking a break or something.

  4. Is there another method to download videos from 7plus.com.au? It looks like ozivine has been removed from github.

  8. Cheers for that, I'll back it up for my own use. Any ideas on who's gonna maintain it now that its unmaintained?

  9. No idea really. Like many, I imagine, I have made my own similar thing to help with these sorts of tasks, but Ozivine was a lot better so to be honest I'd mostly been using that vs my own efforts.

It's a bit odd as there was this statement: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/418707-All-downloaders-going-defunct#post2778962

And then, not really very long after & with no further word etc., it and billybanana just seemingly dropped off the map.

  10. Yeah, I tried going through the wayback machine to see if I could get 1.9. It's last scrape was August 17th, just after 1.7 was released. The next scrape was October 8th, and it was already gone. Shame, as I'm trying to find a way to grab higher resolution episodes off Aus FTA streaming sites. yt-dlp limiting them to 540p, and trying to watch them on a 4k TV? Nah, even on a 1080p TV, still a bit blurry.

    What sites are you trying?

ABC is 1080p for most of its content now.
SBS is the worst with low bandwidth 720p
    7plus is 720p
    9now is 720p
    10play has 1080p with a little work

I used YT-DLP to get a couple episodes of RFDS off of 7Plus. When I went to play them on Kodi on the TV in the lounge, it said it was 540p. When I checked them again on the TV in the games room, it also said 540p. When I re-ripped them with Ozivine, it got them as 720p. So yeah, YT-dlp is limiting them in resolutions.

  13. yt-dlp doesn't limit it. if you are not signed into 7plus and pass the cookies to yt-dlp you don't get 720p. Its a limitation from the 7plus site, not yt-dlp. Ozivine may have used a different extraction method of the m3u8 than yt-dlp does but its not a yt-dlp issue.

  14. Ozivine is a terrific program and has been quite useful to me. I am thinking billybanana has hooked up with Matilda and is waltzing all over Australia.

Fair enough. I could never get yt-dlp to work for Australian FTA sites, even when passing cookies. Not sure why, but I did think it was PEBCAK/ID10T errors. Glad to know it was. I'll stick with Ozivine for now, until somthing breaks.

Thanks for the info, I'll try again with yt-dlp when I need to.

Provided you get all the binaries and make them work on a Mac, then I don't see why note. Python is not OS specific so that shouldn't be an issue for you. I don't have a Mac, nor have ever tested with one, so won't be a huge help.

These are the binary files you need to go with Ozivine:
    N_m3u8DL-RE
    ffmpeg
    mkvmerge
    mp4decrypt

There's a bit of info in this thread that might how you.

Thanks, I've only ever used MacYTDL before and that was just an app. I'll take a look at those and see if I can fumble my way through it.

TNVZ making some changes later this month. Will be interesting to see if they're making wholesale changes to the backend. They already have sports and everything else separated into 2 delivery methods. Hopefully whatever they do might make it easier for us.

We’re getting ready to roll out a new TVNZ+ platform from mid to late April. It’s a behind the scenes upgrade that sets us up for a better streaming experience, and it comes with a couple of changes we want to give you a heads up about.

A new way to sign in
We’re moving to one time sign in codes instead of passwords.
    What that means:
    • When you sign in, we’ll email you a secure code
    • Enter the code on screen and you’re good to go
    • No passwords to remember or reset

Anything special I need to do for 7plus content to avoid a "No id_token returned by Gigya" error message? I have cookies.txt and then 7plus.txt as well.

Use this file extension to export cookies for 7.
    https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/get-cookiestxt-clean/ahmnmhfbokciafffnknlekllgcnafnie

You can check the cookies file after export to see it contains the text "gig_bootstrap". That means it will contain the right info. The other extensions I've used in the past to extract cookies did not contain this.

Thank you, that worked to get past the issue I had and it started to download (720p), then failed.

  27. Good to see people still appreciating legacy utilities like that. It’s wild how long some of these niche tools stick around compared to the bloated software we get today. I’ve always had trouble finding reliable documentation for older FTA capture methods, especially with changing encoding standards. Do you happen to know if there are any updated guides for handling newer Australian stream formats, or is it mostly trial and error at this point?

There's no documentation aside from what people post on their GitHub pages and tidbits of information you get from this site in particular. My advice for anyone who wants to understand how this stuff works is to read Angela's 3 x sticky threads over and over.

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/407216-Decryption-The-Dungeon-of-Despair
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/408557-Decryption-The-Last-Crusade

I am self taught via this forum, with some (read a lot) help, from ChatGPT along the way.

The Aussie/NZ sites are not really unique in anyway, except for a bit of messing around with 10 to get 1080p. 7 and 9 use the same Brightcove delivery that many streaming sites use, so they're reasonably straightforward to understand and write stuff for.

SBS have removed their previous backend api. Downloads now require an account to obtain a token.

I have revamped the script so it's now working and will post an update to GitHub later today.
