I think Windows 10 login screen, which shows every time after the lock screen when I turn my Windows 10 laptop on, is useless at home. How can I bypass this step?

1) Hit Windows key on the keyboard
2) Type in netplwiz and hit enter
3) Untick Users Must Enter a Password
4) Put in username and password or if Microsoft Account full Microsoft account email address and password.
5) Click OK and reboot.

To enable/setup this option you need to set a temporarily password.
Assuming you use a local account without password.

On the wife's computer, she will get a message every few weeks to reset her password. She tried but somehow computer locked up and said you need your thumb drive plugged in to access 'something' (I didn't write down those words before it disappeared). I had to take her computer to the local shop and have the guy fix it so that she never has to log in. Cost me $50.00.

Because of this an many other reasons it is often better for basic home users to use a local account without password.

Did you set up a password?
The option is not available without using a password.
After enabling the option you can remove/set blank the password again.

Thanks, but your suggested method doesn’t work. The login window is still there even though without requirement for password.

By now the login requirement disappears after a booting, but after the laptop lid is closed this login window is still there. It doesn’t help with netplwiz.
