I've imported my footage from DVCam to Adobe premier CS3. What do I need to do to make it viewable on a flash drive?

  2. Export to 720p or 1080p avc (h264) and aac or ac3 audio with 48khz and mp4 or mkv container.

Flash drives are a bad idea they can get hot after playing for a short while. At least have a back up on your computer for all your videos.
I would suggest to buy a 2.5" SSD and enclose it in a 2.5" SSD USB enclosure like Ugreen. You will have much more size and they don't get hot.

    ProWo,
Thank you for getting back to me. Let me see if I understand you correctly, using the options in my software.
Encode my movie to MPEG2 BluRay or H.264 BluRay, 1080 or 720 and 48khz audio. Then paste the encoded file to a flash drive?
Not sure what a mkv container is?
I’m retired and out of the industry for a long time. I’ve lost touch with technology and it’s lingo.

Subtitles, Thank you for getting back to me. I have countless hours of home movies on DVCam tapes. Obviously, they cannot be viewed on consumer equipment. I’d like to preserve these home movies on the most up to date media for viewing after my expiration date, lol. After I’m gone!
DVDs seem to be waning. I’m old fashioned and I do not like the cloud. What would you suggest?

What output options are available with Adobe premier CS3?

Exactly what I suggested use 2.5" SSD enclosed in a 2.5" enclosure up to 500GB.
But if you can estimate the full size of all your collection then I would use WD My Passport 5TB HDD and if you have more than 5TB than buy several same device. This is what I have now.

Subtitles, Does the scan disk you show work like a DVR? If so, I could use that here for my TV movies.
As for sharing movies/photos with my family.....I’d like to send copies to my daughters that live out of state. The idea for them being convenience.. Plug in a flash drive and watch movies or photos.

Yes I connect it to the USB port on my satellite receiver and I get the recordings (PVR) using EPG or instantly. Works great and very stable.
As for sharing movies/photos with your family, you don't need to copy them to flash drives and send them by post.
If you have a Google account, then you are entitled to 15GB free size. Just upload videos and photos to "Google My Drive" and create a link that you can share with your family. After they download what you send, delete the videos to revert to the 15GB free space.
I know you mentioned that you don't like cloud storage, but this will save you time and money on buying flash drives and posting charges.

I think this will result in an mp4 file.
You can then copy this to your stick and play it on external devices.

  15. My 2 cents:
Test your TV or other device that has a USB input.
I would start with a flash drive.
If it plays that then a SSD like Subtittles suggested.

I use an AC adapter powered HDD enclosure for this.
My devices will not play the just USB powered HDD.
I do not have SSD like Subtittles suggested to test my devices with.
My main device to play USB movies with is a blu ray player with USB input.

If you are playing with a computer like a HTPC then that will play flash drive,SSD or HDD(powered or not).

I create Blu-ray discs of the videos that I want to preserve. If you have Adobe Encore CS3 you can create Blu-ray discs without re-encoding the videos.

Santiago, Thank You for your reply. Once I burn a BluRay disc, how do I get the video to the Flash Drive?
