Hello. Want to record some Blu Ray Movies For the first time. Trying to learn about available Blank Discs to record on. I heard Verbatim BD-R Discs were good. I am looking at some on Amazon. I like to buy there. Good prices and a good return policy if any problems arise with any purchases. Then I see I can save a lot of money if I buy their discs made in Japan. Some of the Verbatim discs on Amazon said they were DataLife Plus Discs. I do not know what this means. The ones from Japan does not say this. I will call Verbatim Customer Service this morning and ask about this. Supposedly same product. I checked online. It says good product just cheaper. Amazon reviews says just to burn at slow speeds and you will be ok. One Man did say he had data loss after a few years. Does anyone have any experience with these discs? Can anyone recommend any other discs? Any help on choosing Blank Blu Ray Discs to burn Blu Rays on would really be appreciated. Interested in a 50gb discs at this time. Thanks!

DataLife Plus Discs treated with a super hard coat to prevent scratches, resist fingerprints and reduce dust build-up.

I have used the Verbatim Data Life Plus Discs for many years and had no problems.

I'm not the one to tell you what blu ray blanks to use.
I have been reading on this.
There are fake Verbatims for sale.
Even some that are manufactured for Verbatim.
This is for M Discs & the real ones require an optical drive that is rated to burn Mdiscs.
Those drives have a stronger laser.

So good luck on getting good BD discs.
I did read stay away from "ATH" labled discs. -
I got some that said made in Japan and another pack said made in Taiwan. So which is which ? I don't know. Maybe somebody here can enlighten me/us.

Verbatim Support finally got back to me but very short with their reply’s. In short their Japan discs are the same but slower they are 4 x speed not 8x like the US ones. No big deal. I wouldn’t burn at a high speed anyways. You would have to use Japans Support if needed. US Verbatim would not support them. Otherwise same quality. Same hard coating on discs. Only you can’t get them from Japan with the DataLife Plus added Feature which costs more and not sure what you get with this but I think it adds to the life expectancy of the data you put on it. Still waiting on info on this from Verbatim Support. It also adds to the cost of the discs. So at this point I am still waiting for my discs from Japan. When I get them I will verify they are real Verbatim discs. Thank you Cholla for the link on info on verification of valid Verbatim discs! Then I will see if I have any problems burning blu ray movies at a slow speed. If I do, they will go right back to Kaoan and I will fork out the money for US verbatim discs probably with the DataLife feature. Will just have to wait and see. Thanks for all the help!
