Bought a used DCR-TRV330 and I am having some issues regarding playback of my tapes.
Can't seem to get the video showing up, according to video below. Have tried a couple of different tapes.

Also connected S-video cable from camcorder to capture card and using AmarecTV, but I get nothing from AmarecTV. Previously transferred from a VHS player today using S-video and changed not settings inbetween.

Have I missed anything? Have tried all NTSC, PAL, and SECAM options in AmarecTV
Does it matter that it is an NTSC model while trying to play PAL tapes?

In addition to format compatibility, It could be a dirty camcorder tape transport.

  4. AFAIK the PAL compliant model would have an E suffix, like DCR-TRV330E

I don't think NTSC models can playback anything else then NTSC.
But European PAL models specifically mention the possibility of playing NTSC on PAL equipment.

To test the functionality of the player/recorder, you can try record something to tape or capture directly from the camera itself?
