This video isn't protected at all and not actually streamed, it's just an mp4-file being played on that page. Which means you can download it by going to this url (it will start playing in your browser) and saving it through CTRL+S:

    https://itvnewsshortform.itv.com/media/v1/pmp4/static/clear/2821697655001/334344e4-abf...9a87f/main.mp4
Not that simple, there is no option to download. Where do you get https://itvnewsshortform from ??

That doesn't work with me. ctrl + s just gives a webpage link

  4. As previous posts say this is neither streamed nor encrypted.

    This example using Chrome.
    https://itvnewsshortform.itv.com/media/v1/pmp4/static/clear/2821697655001/334344e4-abf...9a87f/main.mp4

Hover over video whilst playing, right click and then Save Video As...

    Job done.

I would if I had an option for save Video as but I don't as have no idea how you download from https://itvnewsshortform.itv.com/media as this url does not exist for me ??!! all I can get to is https://www.itv.com/watch/news

    Please explain

  6. You click on the itvnewsshortform link in my post which opens up in a new window and the video should play then when you right click you have the option of save as.

If you play it from the URL you gave you are correct. There is no save video as option.

Hence you were given the other URL by Monkeymagic yesterday.

OK so how is this being done as I don't want to keep asking for a new video ie Friday's edition ?

  8. As Monkeymagic said:-

open your browser, open (right-click) "Inspect > Network", visit your original URL above, play the video. You'll see content populate in the "Inspect > Network". You'll see a Brightcove CDN request and then a main.mp4. You can then download that main.mp4 file directly in your browser's download function.

Or Open Browser , F12, select network tab, type main.mp4 in the Filter tab then play the video and you should she the itvnewsshortform URL in the headers. Alternatively select main.mp4 and right click "Copy URL"

Then play that video and right click as above to Save.

    Saturday's URL is https://itvnewsshortform.itv.com/media/v1/pmp4/static/clear/2821697655001/a99968c3-da9...3e7c0/main.mp4

So that is what you are looking for today.

Ok I very much appreciate you explaining however there is NO NETWORK option to see anywhere with Microsoft Edge or Chrome so I don't understand why you see it and I don't ! This is what shows when I right click inspect

OK so I see a network tab and the filter tab but typing in main.mp4 shows nothing ? Certainly no such Brightcove CDN request ??

  11. Did you open the Network tab before you started playing the video? (You should)

It's a single file so it's a single request that occurs just after you press play. If you open the network tab afterwards, it won't 'see' the request anymore.

No STV is one of the few (only??) that isnt DRM protected (well last time I look a couple of weeks back). It is streamed though not a static file.

Now you need to start reading the forums and learn how to capture streams with youtube download or variant (e.g. yt-dlp).

Once you have mastered that then you can start looking at the threads about encryption for the other UK sites (e.g. ITVX, Channel 4/5 etc).

And it is something like yt-dlp that re-assembles those 'broken up' bits of video into an mp4 file again!

Weird, I get mp4 as well. Could you upload a HAR file with all your requests? I'm curious what 'broken' bits you get and with what requests

Dude you've had people writing comment after comment to try to help you - and now you're being sarcastic and rude. What are you talking about - you've not even bothered to try. "Yt-dlp doesn't interest me" - well, that's a key tool for downloading, so enjoy not having your videos then?
