Crash course on downloading ITVx hub please?

I'm totally confused here. Is there a GUI version of yl-dip etc ? I simply want to download for now this from itvx. How do you do it guys ?

This video isn't protected at all and not actually streamed, it's just an mp4-file being played on that page. Which means you can download it by going to this url (it will start playing in your browser) and saving it through CTRL+S:

You click on the itvnewsshortform link in my post which opens up in a new window and the video should play then when you right click you have the option of save as.

If you play it from the URL you gave you are correct. There is no save video as option.

Hence you were given the other URL by Monkeymagic yesterday.

Ok I very much appreciate you explaining however there is NO NETWORK option to see anywhere with Microsoft Edge or Chrome so I don't understand why you see it and I don't ! This is what shows when I right click inspect

Did you open the Network tab before you started playing the video? (You should)

It's a single file so it's a single request that occurs just after you press play. If you open the network tab afterwards, it won't 'see' the request anymore.

No but all ok now though I am trying with stv player and a few recent Coronation Street episodes but these seems to be drm protected or not ? main.mp4 not working with this site anyway

No STV is one of the few (only??) that isnt DRM protected (well last time I look a couple of weeks back). It is streamed though not a static file.

Now you need to start reading the forums and learn how to capture streams with youtube download or variant (e.g. yt-dlp).

Once you have mastered that then you can start looking at the threads about encryption for the other UK sites (e.g. ITVX, Channel 4/5 etc).

Is it just that one episode you want or is it the whole ITV principle?
(as you can see people will post just one episode - you beat me to it cedric) but for the principles you need to read the threads.

Not sure if this is relevant to the thread, but I subscribed to ITVx as a trial a few days ago. I don't watch modern TV shows but I subbed to watch episodes of Heartbeat as the versions that ITV show use all of the original music that were shown when the episodes where first broadcast, and ITV3 (from the episodes I have watched) also use the same songs. But what annoyed me about the eps on ITVx was that they were heavily cut, not just for mild swear words and some graphic scenes but also about 4 minutes edited out making the running time of about 42 mins compared to the usual running time of around 49-50 mins. I know the episodes weren't on the "premium service" but still it would've been nice to watch the episodes unedited, but it seems all they've done is use the versions that ITV3 already broadcast, including the same ad break bumpers. The episodes used to be available on Britbox (presumably uncut) but they're not available anymore. The DVD releases don't include the original Beatles songs, and even some Hendrix songs have been replaced, and the most annoying thing about the DVD versions is that some episodes from the second series and 1 episode from series 4 have been edited for no apparent reason. In some scenes where the music has been replaced, you can hear the original song underneath. It's like they (Network) have muted the original audio and added another song on top. It maybe that ITV never gave them the raw, music free version of the episode.

I also noticed that episodes of Only Fools and Horses had been edited also, and these are only available on their premium service. I know OFAH episodes are known to be heavily cut on some episodes for the VHS/DVD releases, but I noticed that the Miami Twice episode had the cut scenes with Del and Rodney at the night club (with Amy Grant's Baby Baby used) intact, but they had edited part of the scene at the beginning when they are talking on the plane. It seems that they have used the version that UKGold uses now when they show the episode; they show the uncut version but still edit out other bits. If you're paying for a service the episodes should be completely uncut.

I tried using the method shown in this crash course, and unfortunately I am unable to download Family Guy or American Dad in a resolution higher than 896x504. Everything else can download in 720p just fine without issue, but Family Guy and American Dad is limited to 896x504 and I can't get it to download in 720p at all no matter what I did.
