Which bitrate ?

I have a xvid movie which i want to convert to mpg.

Video
576x320 877 kb/s bitrate
23.976fps length : 1:33:56
Audio
144 kb/s vbr 48000hz

Can someone please tell me which bitrate I should use ?
And which bitratecalculator is supposed to be the easiest/best to calculate this stuff ?

I tried to make an mpg and 6 minutes of movie was allready 140mb.
bitrate cbr : 2520 (way to much i presume )

The VCDhelp bitrate calc is easy to use, not sure how acurate it is though!

Use the VCDhelp bitrate calculator. I assume you want SVCD (mpeg-2) as you mention 2520 and that happens to be the MAX bitrate for SVCD. I would suggest using 2-pass VBR for best quality. If you drop the bitrate much below 17-1800 the quality will be pretty poor.

Would a bitrate of 2150 fit on 2 80' cd's ?

Use the calculator, if you use an audio bitrate of 224 kbit/s you should use about 2080 kbit/s CBR or 2-pass VBR for the video. Use fitcd for exact calculations.
