I am going through the list of what I need to order for a new PC build.
I want to keep using my mid tower case and the motherboard is ATX. I can fit two 140mm fans or 280mm CPU cooler at the top.
The clearance between the top and the edge of my current ATX motherboard is only 43mm.
The CPU cooler that I have in mind is the Thermaltake TOUGHLIQUID 280 which has a radiator width of 27mm. The fans width is 25mm. The total is 52mm which is 9mm short of clearing the motherboard.
Do you think I will have a problem fitting this monster on the case top? My main concern is if it can block my memory modules.

Depending on how wide your case is, a consideration is any plugs that go into the very top edge of the MB; I have two fan cables plugged in to sockets that would impinge on a fan setup that overlapped the edge of the MB. The leads are marked here (CPU fan and another):

    Thanks Alwyn. Nice PC build.
I am considering now the Arctic Freezer 2 280 A-RGB because of the price locally, but it has a thicker radiator 38mm instead of the near standard thickness of 27mm.
