  1. I've just burned a DVD+R but it won't play on either of my standalone DVD players, whereas exactly the same files burned onto a +RW disc play fine on both.

Firstly, why is this? If it is because the +R disc isn't recorded all the way to the edge or because it isn't finalised, how do I do this? Also, can I finalise a +R disc that has been written already, or do I have to specify certain settings before writing?

I'm using VOB Instant CD/DVD for burning as I had problems with Nero, and I'm using a Philips DVDRW228K burner.

If anyone can offer any advice it would be most welcome as I don't like the idea of wasting all my +R discs!!!

  2. Just in case anyone has read this topic and is interested in an answer, I got it from another forum.

If you add to the disc you have already created using Instant CD/DVD by burning an extra file onto it, something like a readme file using Nero to finalize the disc, all is well.

I've burned +R Memorex on a Dell Precision Workstation at work with DVD Movie Factory. The +R disc plays on everything I’ve tried, even on older DVD players that can’t play SVCDs...
