  1. I have been converting some small home video {VHS} to cdr - using AIW - and Nero - my only concern is quality - Thanks to you guys some of my attempts have been pretty darn good and my video does play in my standalone DVD players. Still experimenting to make better quality but I'm getting there.

Eventually {within a few months} I am going to purchase the new Sony {500} DVD burner
My question is - Should I wait and not bother with the capturing and authoring now?? Will the dvd recorder offer better quality recording options?? Or will the quality be the same. If the quality is the same I can continue now saving to my hard drive or putting my vcd files on my cdr-s and then just copy them over to the DVD disks when I get it.

Are there any quality advantages to waiting for my DVD recorder??

    thanks

    Wait for New Sony 500??

    It's just a burner.

As far as the software which ships with the unit, I have not heard rave reviews which leads me to beleive it is not that great or new or revolutionary, however I'm sure it's good.

This burner can burn faster and can burn -R as well as +R disks. Thats the neat thing about it.

Only the authoring software would change things.

Burn does not change quality. It either burns what the software authored or it does not. Total success or total failure.

    I think.....
