We are staying safe, but not feeling our usual holiday spirit. Thank you for providing a little holiday cheer.

My mother and I will also celebrate our birthdays in a few days. Mom will be 101. It's a real shame we can't have the celibration for her that we wanted but at least her family are all alive and well to wish her a happy birthday.

Every damn end of year the same damn b***s*** people keep on repeating as if it had an actual meaning... And this particular end of year makes it particularly egregious, since not much has been merry for many, while near future perspectives are looking quite bleak for the majority.
Reminds me of the movie Johnny got his gun where the titular character — as socially distanciated as can be since he can no longer speak, or hear, or see, or communicate in any meaningful way other than nodding his head in morse code — has dream-like recollections of a scene from a Christmas party, a scene from a not-so-distant past which feels like it happened eons ago, a scene which is supposed to be cheerful but plays like a nightmare, where this fat guy in a suit keeps on repeating over and over ad nauseam :

In my family every family member is allowed to choose one movie and we watch it together. After all the movies we rank them, and the one who chose the number one movie wins.
