I have a canon uc8000 taking hi8 cassettes. It works fine on the television to show the films. I also have a video capture card, Easycap. That is identified by the pc. However I have tried to get the software (Arcsoft Showbiz) to recognise the camera but it doesn't. Any thoughts?

Search for Easycap as there are hundreds of threads discussing [why the included software is poor and] good alternative software such as Virtualdub. Also note that it's (in its various incarnations) amongst the the worse capture devices out there.
