  1. I've been successfully using ATI MMC 7.1 with an AIW 128 card for almost a year now to record MPEG-1 files (using very helpful instructions I found on this website). Recently, MMC has started forgetting which audio input is the correct one to use. I have re-run the installation wizard from the display tab of settings multiple times to set the correct audio input, but when I exit and re-enter the TV application, the setting reverts to the default. I've even tried changing the registry setting (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Sound), but every time I exit the TV application, it resets.

I can't figure out why this has suddenly started happening or what to do about it. Recent changes to my computer have included a new monitor, a switch from DSL to cable modem, installation of back up and FTP software, and installation of one old CDROM that wanted to install quicktime 2.1 but I didn't let it. I can't see why any of these should have affected ATI MMC.

Any ideas? I've missed multiple TV recordings because of this.

    Thanks very much.

ps: my system is WinME, AMD Athlon 1200Mhz, Abit KT7A motherboard, and MonsterSound MX300 sound card.

  2. start MMC
open windows volume (yellow speaker or via control panel/sound/advanced)
    click options/recording
    select source and volume level
    close MMC

    then it should stay
MMC has its own copy of the settings, and loads and unloads them with the program

  3. Thanks. I tried what you suggest, but it didn't help.

It also doesn't explain why, after a year of working correctly, it suddenly stopped working.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.
