Nero 55xx

Just wondering if anyone is having the same problems as me or no of a way to fix the problem. I'm been used to using version 5024 but upped to new version 5524 and 5535 becuases of the automated mpeg converter for vcd's. For some reason I can not burn any type of cd faster then 4x. If I do pc will crash. This is the only program that causes this problem. DiscJuggler and CDRWin do not give me problems burning faster. Anyone with similar problems or can tell me how to fix it thx

Well i was having the same problem. My nero 5.535 was crashing (the pc freeze)all the time but i don't know if the burning speed was the problem. Anyway i deleted it and got the 5.0 version again.

I may decide to go bacc as well. Depends on if I can still do non-standard vcds on earlier versions of nero.

Anyone remember?

I had the problems with non-compliant and compliant SVCDs with nero 5502. But I realized that my non-compliants might have played if I was using WinDVD > 2.0. I had both WinDVD 1.2.2 and PowerDVD 3.0. So I thought I was good. Of course you guys are probably talking about standalone DVDs which I can't really talk experience of.

Well my movies will mostly be played on standalone but I was just making sure the other versions of nero could burn non-standard vcds

it may offer you some help i.e. driver downloads, ideas etc.

Yeah I've used it, its doesn't help. It only happens if burned faster then 4x. I just went bacc to version 5048 and had no problems with it. After a few test I think there is a problem with a dll or vxd that nero changed up. Even the CD Speed test on 5535 froze my pc if ran faster then 4x. I'm content with 5048 since the new features with 55xx I don't use anyway.

OK, i too have had some problems with Nero 5.5....even on a win98 machine.

Now where can i pick up an older version of nero, say 4.0, ot 5.0?

you can just search on the net, thats what I did. Was just too lazy to go looking on my archive cd's. not sure if its still on nero's site or not.
