I want to rip(copy) certain scens from several DVD's and then want to joint them to create one file.
I am new to ripping DVD's, so what software do I need to do this.
Again ro recap, here what I want to do.
1. Rip certain scene from several dvd's
2. Join the ripped sense to form one file
3. Play that file on my pc, either through Windows media player or on DVD playing sorftware (powerDVD, ...)

here's what i suggest:
now, it's kind of long work... but i think you're gonna need to rip the Whole DVD anyway...
Get the program DVD2AVI (http://hiroko.ee.ntu.edu.tw/)
This program will make an AVI of your DVD...
now you've done this, you need to use VirtualDub(I'll call it VDUB). Open your AVI file, select the frames you want to use... and COPY THEM TO CLIPBOARD... that will give you the frames you need. Past them in another AVI file, and save that... That gives you the AVI of the frames you wanted...
Now, get TMPGENC to convert your AVI to an MP(E)G
burn on a (S)VCD and you're doneWanne earn something a couple of dollars?

You must be kidding, El Toro. Using DVD2AVI to make AVI files? Using VDub to copy frames to clipboard? Maybe I am just too dumb to understand such an innovative idea.
Here is my suggestion. I hope you are very familiar with Avisynth.
1. You don't necessarily need to rip the whole DVD, just the program chain or the vob the scene is in.
2. Use DVD2AVI to create D2V files.
3. Use Avisynth to choose clips you want and join them together, which VDub can't do, because it can't open multiple clips simultaneously.
4. Frameserve AVS file to your encoder. -
