  1. I downloaded a movie in three parts, I encoded the three parts to NTCS DVD using TMPGEnc.

I then joined the three parts giving me one movie, using MPEG JOIN.

I deleted all the seperat parts, leaving me with the joined movie.

I tried to burn the movie to DVD using Ulead Movie Factory and I got the message that all or part of the mpeg was not compatable.

I atempted to re encode the movie using TMPGEnc.

Here is where it gets strange, TMPGEnc tells me the movie is only 9 minutes 12 seconds long and duly encodes that much!

I opened the movie in media player, which also tells me it is 9 minutes 12 seconds long but when it plays the movie it is all there, the timer stops at 9.12 but the movie carries on playing.

Is there any way i can correct this and burn the movie?

Oops, don’t delete originals until you finished

In TMPGEnc, use setting > advanced > source range > move almost to the end and mark it as the end.

See if that fixes the range..

Sometimes its best to add the mpegs all separate into the authoring program, your DVD player will play them all, and the join may be as good, or as bad as if you had joined them all together.

When you downloaded the movie, was it AVI ? it may have been better to have joined them before converting to Mpeg 2 (DVD) or even add them to the DVD as they are, if they were .mpg

  3. Thanks for this.

Yes, felt such a fool after deleting the original files, but i had no disk space left.

The original movie download was an MPEG.

I did use to just add the MPEGS seperate into the authoring problem, but i found that i had to eject the movie to get back to the start menue in order to choose the second mpeg. They would not play automaticaly.

Is there a tutorial on just adding mpegs to DVD?

  4. Thanks King John

Just tried setting the source range, but it wont let me set anything greater than 9 minutes 12 or the corresponding frames.

It is very frustrating, the whole movie is there, any suggestions, please?

Sounds like "MPEG JOIN" has made a right mess, umm will it work with any of the other functions like Multiplex ?

If you load it into TMPGEnc and use settings > advance > source range. Will it let you move to the end then ?

You may need to re-encode in TMPGEnc, by the time other programs have finished with it, it may be out of sync.

As for the DVD player, it should play them one after each other, but the routing sounds wrong.

Play 1 go to next play 2
Yours must have had play 1, go back to menu ????

What did you use ? Video Pack 5.1 is good with sorting out what you want to do.

  6. I've not tried Multiplex what will that do?

If you load it into TMPGEnc and use settings > advance > source range. Will it let you move to the end then ?

No as far as TMPGEnc is concerned there is only 9 minutes 12 seconds of movie and thats as far as it will let you go.

I have tried to re-encode but again TMPGEnc only sees the 9.12.

havent managed to burn it as i get a message in DVD movie factory saying that part of the mpeg is uncompatable.

What did you use ? Video Pack 5.1 is good with sorting out what you want to do.

    Sorry don't understand.

It may be that i will just have to watch the movie on my pc, Media Player
says the movie is 9.12 but it continues to play past this with no problem.

    Thanks

I meant it is easy to use separate mpegs, and control how they are played.

I wonder is DvdX will fix your problem, load the .mpg in, see if you can scroll to the end of the movie. If you can, select SVCD for the output... Might work, its good with Mpeg 2 VOB files.
