  1. Hi, I don't know if anyone has notice this or has had this problem before but I'm using VCDEasy to burn a MPG to a CD-RW and when I set the speed in the CDRDAO settings at "X1", the software keep using higher speed to write (it shows it in the log as "Starting writing at speed 4..." or "Starting writing at speed 2... " ).

Anyone knows why and how I could make sure that this doens't happen anymore ?

    Thank you.

Could it be that you burner doesn't support lower speed than 2/4X with CD-RW/CD-R??

  3. Maybe, but I doubt it because it would be weird that sometimes X2 speed would work and that some other times it wouldn't. If it's any help I have a HP-9500i.

My idea was that the writer supports different lowest write speeds depending on if you put a CD-R or CD-RW in it. (4 and 2 respectively).

  5. Hi,

I've only been using CDRW, althought I've been using 2 different kind and in theory even thou the first one (an hp CDRW) doens't show the speed it needs, the second one (a Fujifilm) mention that it can support 1,2 & 4x speed.

That wouldn't bother me a lot if the image was of good quality at 2x or 4x speed, however my Toshiba SD2800 seem to have problem reading the file at 4x and it's still a little chobby at 2x. That's why I want to give it a try a 1x

FYI and for what it's worth. I own a Toshiba SD2800 and I'm able to play VCDs and XVCDs on CD-RW that I've burned with Nero at 4x speed. It seems like I did have problems with XVCDs burned on CD-R at 8x speed. But, CD-RWs and CD-Rs burned at 4x seem to play well in my standalone player.

  7. I finally manage to have something of good quality after reconverting to MPEG (and using various options in TMPGEnc) buring it on my FujiFilm CDRW disc (VCDEasy burn it at 2x even thou I ask for 1x). I'm gonna have to check out to see if my HP CDRW disc also give me good quality.

I think that the main problem was the quality of the MPEG, even thou it seems great on my computer, wasn't so great after all.

Still, I find it strange that I can't burn at 1x.

I'm curious, what kind of CD-Writer you have and on what brand of disc are you burning ?
