  1. Now that software companies are starting to release audio editors capable of 5.1 audio, I'm wondering how to get a DTS5.1 composition authored to DVD. The only authoring software I can find is made by Minnetonka(Surcode) and it costs 2000 bucks!! Any know of any cheaper DTS 5.1 authoring software around?

    Hi cuervo,

Are you sure that it is DTS format and it is correct? And what DVD authoring app do you have that can accept DTS audio track? As far as I know, only Scenarist and Maestro will accept DTS audio tracks. (I may be wrong).

  7. For making dolby digital (ac3) audio tracks use
    1) Sonic Foundry acid 4 and Soft encode.
    2) Make your wav's and then trow them in soft encode and you will have PERFECT 5.1 Sound even for burning in cd's

  8. hmmm....format nomenclature is a little unclear to me. As far as I know, DVD-A(DVD audio) is treated the same as DTS5.1. In the Minnetonka app(you can download a demo version) for DTS5.1, you enter a mono audio track in (.wav format) for each of the 5.1 channels. M$ WMP encoder takes the same input. Both generate a single .wav output that plays in WMP9 with the 5.1 audio channels intact. The trick, now, is to actually burn the 5.1 wav file to DVD disc. THAT, I have not done.

  9. I've tried both Softencode and SurCode CD Pro, now. Both apps give me an output file that's nothing but buzzing noise. Anybody know what's wrong?

  11. Thanx for your help. Sorry for sounding dumb, but, is there any way to play an encoded DTS audio file on my computer? My system has a Santa Cruz 5.1 surround sound card.

  15. Cool!! Thanx for the info, Wizzy and BJ_M.
WMP9 encoder will generate a 5.1 WAV file and play it back. It's not DTS, tho'.
