I edited the video clips taken with Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and render to MP4 with Sony Vegas Pro 12 for viewing on HDTV. The result is choppy. The clips are 1920 x 1080 progressive. Can anyone tell me what setting should I use to get a smooth playback video. Sorry for my English.

Too little detail in your post.

Random guess: perhaps you shot at 60 frames per second and exported at 30 fps.

  3. Issues could be mismatched frame rate, inadequate data throughput or even optical stabilization in the original recording. What settings are you currently using? As vaporeon says, too little information.

How well do they play on the pc
Maybe it's a tv compatibility issue

The original video property is 1920 x 1080 x 12. 30fps progressive. After some simple editing in Sony Vegas I render them using MainConcept Internet HD 1080p 29.970 NTSC. Variable bit rate 24000000/12000000bps. It is a short video about 10 min. long. People moving across the screen have some jerky movement. Is it due to NTSC video playing on PAL HDTV? Should I try converting it to PAL (25fps) or use interlaced setting.

The edited video did not play smoothly on pc and HDTV but original video played smoothly.

If you played the original video on the HDTV, then I guess that rules out a 30fps vs 50Hz display mismatch.

Please render out a short encoded sample from Vegas for us to view and verify whether it's jerky for us. Something like 10 seconds should be enough, but make sure to include a section that looks obviously choppy on your end. Use the Upload files/Manage attachments button on the left underneath the Reply box here on the forum.

Why are you editing and rendering
Are you going to make a dvd? Is it for broadcast?
If so, then yes make it PAL
IF you are not going to make a DVD or Broadcast, if it is for presentation or YouTube etc..
Then leave it at 30fps, just edit only

The clips are short and shoot at different locations, so I want to do some simple cutting and joining them to get a single media file to be play on TV. Thanks for giving me advice.
