I've never gotten that error in Nero. Are you using CDR or CDRW?
Maybe you need to erase it. Don't format it with INCD. It is incompatible with stand alone DVD players.

Yes you can/should erase the CDRW to re-use them. In Nero look under the Recorder menu, it has an option to "Erase ReWritable".

I have never tried to overburn a CDRW, but then I don't use them much. CDRs are so cheap (nearly free after rebates), and so much faster, I don't waste my time with CDRWs. With burn-proof, I almost never have a problem burning a disk, only when I try to overburn

p.s. I noticed you have an HP CD-writer. My first writer was an HP 4x4x24 (8110i). It sure was slow, didn't have burn-proof and it wouldn't let me use DMA on my system. HP hasn't made CD-Writers in a while. I forget what their fastest was (8x?).
I now have three 32x writers. Writers are so cheap these days, you should treat yourself to a faster burner. I saw a 40x burner for $30 after rebate this week.

  3. whoa thats alot of info, but i have no idea what INCD is. and it also gives me this error also SCSI error. if u know what that is, pls let me know. thanks.

do u think i should use a different burning program? if so, what program should i get for xVCD's and sVCD's?

and the weird thing is, it only happens when i try to use the cdrw's.

oh by the way, yeah its a pretty old burner, but 10x is good enough for me. burn movies in 10 minutes, so it aint that bad.

1). InCD is the program from the makers of Nero, that lets you drag&Drop files to a pre-formated CDRW.. its like ECDC DirectCD. I prefer DirectCD.

2). I use to get a SCSI error on one of my drives. I thought I would have to replace it. But I moved it to another system and it worked fine. I also upgraded the Nero software, so I can't say what ultimately fixed it.

3). I prefer Nero over ECDC for doing VCDs. Its easier in some respects, ECDC may have more option, but I would have to invest more time to find out how to use them.

4). you're right 10x beets the pants off 4x, especially when you take into account the DMA issue. I like being able burn a VCD in 3.5 min or less. I need to considering how may I burn. Of course someone out there is going to trump me with their 48x burner, but you can only chase technology so far. I would be limited by the speed of the media anyway.

5). You've had this burner for a while, how long have you had the problem?
Have you changed anything recently. Software, hardware, what type of media are you using (faster may not be better).

  5. sometimes in nero, i get this error: CANNOT perform start track, or cannot perform End track.
    possible cause 1:

You are buring @ track at once mode where a lead in and lead out
track is placed at the end of the disc (outer edge) but you are
running out of space. Instead activate overburn and burn in
    disk at once mode.

    possible cause 2:

Your CD burner is unable on occasion to start a burn as it's memory
buffer has not been flushed correctly. Eject CD from drive and
    reinsert before writing.

  6. "could not end track"
That means that nero didn't make a socalled TOC(table of contents)
Now, the TOC is located in the smallest rings of your CD. It contains information about what tracks are where on the CD. Nero burns this part at the very ending of the burning process(you know, when it says: LEAD-IN/OUT). You probably have the wrong nero setts...
