I've just tried to use a white-label cd to play in my 709, but it will not play. I used VCDEasy to create it but it doesn't recognise the disc. Am I doing something wrong? I'm just gonna try a![]()
cd-rw disc to see if it makes a difference after i've read some of the posts and they suggest using different format of discs.
Any help would be grateful
Thanx guys

Without knowing what player you have ..its hard to respond...
Certain units do dislike certian media, some dont play CDRs at all.
Generally..try to play any VCD on your computer..If you have a DVD drive on your pc...it should play as a VCD....But at least check that all the files are there...there should be a dat file in the folder " MPEGAV" thats roughly the same size as your movie...thats the movie that is played off the VCD. This file can usally be viewed like any movie file with a standard CDROM drive and Windows media player. Check this link for complete list of files that should be there.

If it work fine on PC.....its probly the media ....or your standalone player may not support VCD -
You should try a different burning program like nero. For some reason when i burned with vcdeasy they wouldn't play in my dvd player.

sorry, i've got a samsung 709. I've checked the list and it says it does support them. I've just tried it on my pc and using windows media player, it says its playing and i get picture, but stills, no movement. I've lost my dvd software, but i have got a dvd player on my pc. Arrgh, this is really starting to annoy me. I've burnt it to a phillips cd-rw and my player seems like its trying to get it to play, but it still doesn't want to.
Any help, gratefully appreciated
cheers

Just checked the Samsung 709 player in the VCDHelp compatibility page and it does support VCD...but most say it does not support CDR or CDRW...Meaning that it probly only plays factory pressed VCD's and that will not play your burnt ones.....Some people reported that it will play a few select brands of CDR...(most will play Princo..which is like a generic store brand from places like curcuit city) Another person posted:
Insert the VCD and the player should start to load the disc. This can take up to a minute - but don't worry, it will recognise it. When it has recognised the disc, press the mode button on the remote and program the tracks in the order you want (you have to do this, because for some reason the player won't play the disc otherwise), once again the player will take up to a minute to start playing, but as I said before, if you wait it will run.
You can always try Burning to a CDRW with Nero ...(so if it don't work...nothing lost but your time)... -
Yeah, I read that one, but it doesnt recognise it at all. Thats what i'm trying now, burning to a cd-rw with Nero. Just have to wait and see, eh?
Thanx for your help
