I have nothing against posting the log.
But if it contains certain file information, even though this type of thing is worked on
all the time, it could cause some rule infraction at VH.
And you are right. I had no idea I'd be enmeshed in such a briar patch.
The OP is right on many counts. This is 2015. A lot of this should be smoothed out by now.

I may be jumping to conclusions but if you have a 6 gb .ts source that would have to be self-recorded/captured from a stb or similar.
I do not see any possibility of any rule infraction there but, there again, I am not a mod. Even so, there are work-arounds if you are over-sensitive to filenames etc. -
To rewind a bit we were talking about analyzing the log file called here DVD_4 which produced a DVD disk where the sound was off by Delay=1.
I can put that in here as an attachment or print it to screen
Yes, this is a screen cap from a television production of a play. It's one of those hasty jobs
that stops abruptly at the end.
If there is a problem with attachment getting transferred, I'll cut and paste it in here. -
AVStoDVD can easily handle a constant out-of-sync value ('Edit Title'/'AviSynth'/'Audio'/'Delay Audio'), but the user must know the exact amount of delay/advance. Of course the audio has to be reprocessed ('Edit Title'/'Audio' > make sure that 'Audio Direct Stream Copy' is off).
The DVD_4.log file would be way useful... just copy and paste.
Bye -
I will have it in here shortly and willing to take instruction on this even though it is
slow going. Getting around having to join files would be a relief. -
The log we want is DVD_3 which completed the burn process (close to 6 hours altogether)

Log file created by AVStoDVD Release 2.8.0
<> -
@loninappleton Just ignore newpball. He's a troll who appears to think that nobody should be using DVD video discs, standard video resolutions, standard definition video or MPEG-2. He does his best to disrupt every DVD-related thread by sending them off topic with his own questions and comments.
-
I will wait to hear any analysis of my log file and how to handle that.
But in further experiment with the AVStoDVD .ts file, early on it asks if I really want NTSC (I do) or Pal with a reference to handling frame rate.
I encountered the Pal/NTSC dilemma a while back in trying to get subtitles straight on a project
which I had to abandon since the source file and independent .srt sub did not give enough data
on useful corrections.
My question is: could this frame rate issue be the cause of the audio problem?
Just curious about it.
The audio problem in AVStoDVD is also referenced in an old thread at videohelp. The novice user used the familiar word 'nightmare' in that regard. -
No, as the video length remained the same before and after. What it did was encode for the same 25fps as the source and then apply a specific kind of pulldown (not 3:2 but 3:2:3:2:2) which kept the length the same and at the same time made it NTSC compatible by having it output interlaced 29.97fps:

<>
That's what the ' srcfps 25.000 -destfps 29.97' means. -
Something odd has happened tho.
If you recorded that from the tv, surely the source would have been > 25 fps ?
Brings me back to an earlier question. Was the .ts source fully in sync ?
Should not be the case but I now wonder if svstodvd misread the source. Can you also post a mediainfo report of the original .ts file (text mode) -
TS files sometimes have problems from the capture that can create difficulties when doing further work with them. If the problem is a constant asynch (the same amount all the way through), it's an easy matter to figure it out before then setting a delay.

There are 2 separate source files:
C:\Users\lon\Desktop\BBC.The.Duchess.of.Malfi.1080 i.h264-NX.ts
which contains the video track (AVC H.264)
C:\Users\lon\Desktop\BBC.The.Duchess.of.Malfi.1080 i.h264-NX_1.ac3
which is a separate audio file (AC3)
Did you demuxed/encoded the AC3 file with AVStoDVD?
Why don't you input the original TS captured file and let AVStoDVD do the full video and audio encoding within the same project run?
Bye -
The log file shows that audio was not processed since it was 'already dvd-compliant'
A single pass against a two-pass would make no different to the output but you can select it within the program.
Pls post a mediainfo report of the .ts file and, again, just why was this source 25fps ? -
In addition to DB83 comments, I would suggest to:
1.
- Add the original TS file to AVStoDVD
- Do not demux the AC3 audio track, if you are prompted to select that option (e.g. there are multiple audio tracks)
- Select 'Edit Title'/'Video' > toggle off 'Auto Video Setup' and select 'FFMpeg CBR 1-pass' as encoding profile to speed up the encoding process
- Select 'Edit Title'/'Audio' > toggle off 'Auto Audio Setup' and 'Audio Direct Stream Copy'
- Start the project
Now, if you still get audio delay, try to evaluate the delay amount with VLC or MPC-HC. Keep note of the audio delay value (milliseconds) and go to bullet point 2.
2.
- Add the original TS file to AVStoDVD

- Select 'Edit Title'/'AviSynth' > toggle off 'Auto AviSynth Setup' and select 'Audio'/'Delay Audio'. Insert the audio delay value you have previously recorded.
- Start the project
If you still have troubles post the 2 projects log files.

Yip. And I told you that there are work-arounds.
But alter the filename and people jump to conclusions. So you are in a no-win situation.
But since we have got this far, and I am in a good pre-birthday (Monday) mood, answer the questions asked. To repeat.
1. Was the original .ts totally in sync throughout the playback ?
2. Confirm that you loaded the full .ts in to avstodvd . _MrC_ thinks otherwise.
3. Post the mediainfo (text) report of the .ts file -
I have been on here with various problems since 2005.
If I get bad advice, well that's the video game.
I will do as you ask shortly.
First question best I can determine is everything was in sync until the burn job
was played in a stand alone player which I thought came from some audio/compression
problem.
Today and before I was reading the latest posts in the thread I _found_ where the various vob sets from practice jobs were written. While the HCenc program where makinjg things they called the target folder Video. On my machine the folder is MyVideo and they wrote to that.
I sampled some first vob and last vob and the sound is all ok.
But I will do ask you ask.
Shortly. -
There is IMO never intent to give bad advice. But like any doctor one can only diagnose from the available symtoms.
Did you also try to play the dvd as created on your hdd - not just single vobs - in a software player such as vlc ?
Did you also try to play the burnt dvd in a software player ? - attempt to discount issues with your stand-alone and burnt media. -
Some things to answer:
I had successfully loaded the .ts file into MediInfo (a program I have not actively used with any knowledge). I asked to Export to the Text option under the tab.
The Sample .txt file shown is called Example. Without changing that, I was not able to locate this example.txt file and no completion of the task was shown. What's my problem? Is there another option I missed? Why did not print a simple .txt file to the MediaInfo folder (it's own path) work?
I wonder if the original poster has stopped by to look at all this.
It reminds me of the radio program Riders in the Sky where they used to say "It'd be the easy way, but (said with pride) it wouldn't be the cowboy way." -
Looks like a bug to me. I never noticed "Export" doesn't work because I never used it. I always copy from the Text View window and paste into my post or into Notepad.
...but more importantly, did _MrC_'s or anyone's suggestions actually allow you to convert this file into a playable DVD or are you still scratching your head? -
@usually_quiet
Still scratching. I mentioned that the vob 01 and vob last played with no sync problems--
somewhere amidst all these copies and programs.
As to the disk, right now I do not know a good media player to run this dvd made in -- well, quite frankly I don't remember.
Any time I start one of these queries I'm looking for a method of work in steps which is what I think the OP wanted as well.
MediaInfo is me starting over. I will try as you say to work in the view option. -
The way I use mediainfo is thus.
When installed it should add an item to your 'right-click context menu' from Windows Explorer. So locate the file in W_E, right-click on the .ts and select mediainfo from the menu.
Select View/text. Right-click in the window. And chose 'Select All'. Right-click again and select 'Copy'. Paste direct to a reply here or Paste to Notepad and upload the saved file as an attachment. -
Software media player? Media Player Classic Home Cinema perhaps?
