  1. I have created an AVI using Premiere 6.0 (File Type: Microsoft DV AVI - PAL) now I need to convert it to mpg so I can create a VCD. The problem is when I try and open it in tmpgenc 2.57 it says it can't recognise the format. If I import the audio only it works but it will not open the video. Is this a codec thing? I don't know what that means but it seems to be listed everywhere.

I have downloaded lots of demo software but seem to be going in circles. If someone can tell me the software I neeed I'll buy it if it guarantees success! Maybe I need to start from scratch rather than trying 5 fixes at once? Is there a PAL guide for Premiere users to generate movies for VCD?

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Kaisha

I am quite new at all this myself but I was having problems creating long avi files ( which I was then putting through TMPGEnc ) and was advised to look at Videotools.net which offers a video server plug in which can be run in conjunction with TMPGEnc.

I then created an MPEG directly from Premieres timeline. I don't know if this route will help, since as I said I am new to this but I found it useful and it cuts out your having to produce an avi file first so it may get rid of your problem.
