I bought a sont DV camcorder and trying to download the recording to my computer. I tried on a pentium 2GHZ, 256 MB machine using Pixela software that came with camera using USB. the quality of the captured image is not as bright as the original.
Can anybody help me how to improve the quality of the captured image?Any other software is better ?

So your camera has a USB interface to connect it with your PC. Is this USB 1 or 2.0? You know, the problem is, the USB 1 specification is too slow to transfer your picture at full resolution to you PC, so it will be shrunk to, say, 384 x 240 pixels. You will definitely lose picture quality.
Maybe your camcorders spec is USB 2.0 and your PC's is 1; in that case you could consider buying a USB 2.0 interface card for your PC, which doesn't cost a lot.
Does your camera also have a firewire (also called IEEE 1394) connection? This is the type of connection most commonly used for transferring from cameras to PC's or MACs. You could buy a firewire interface card - or maybe, your PC already has a connection? -
Don't bother with the USB (excpet for stills, which, trust me, will be really really really crummy quality, I have a TRV-18). Spend the $30 or so for a firewire card. Spend a little more and get one bundled with video editing and capture software.
